Sassafras approaches distribution from a bit of a different perspective. This is a very homegrown operation that keeps overhead low and fuss to a minimum. I realize that trying to send off records to as many stores as you would like for them to be in is a costly and time-consuming task. That’s why you come to a distributor. At Sassafras we have decided to make getting your physical titles out to the public and then collecting the money made off those titles sold a simple and affordable process. You pay an upfront (as in, “No, we do not buy your records from you wholesale.”) low flat-rate for every record distributed plus a per-unit postage fee. The records get out to the stores and we stay in contact with the shops to keep track of copies sold. Then we merely collect the money, send you a detailed report of all transactions amongst all the stores carrying your titles, and you are then furnished with a quarterly check (of which we take no dough from). Pretty straightforward, huh?
